Quienes somos (who we are)

Somos una corporación sin fines de lucro establecida en la ciudad de Kissimmee, Florida, reconocida por el instituto de cultura del gobierno de Puerto Rico para servir a los condados de Osceola y Polk en el estado de Florida.  (We are a non-profit corporation established in the City of Kissimmee, Florida, recognized by the institute of Puerto Rican culture of the Government of Puerto Rico to serve the counties of Osceola and Polk of the State of Florida).

Nuestro Proposito (our purpose)

El propósito principal de nuestra organización es la promoción de la cultura Puertorriqueña, que ha dado a sus manifestaciones promueve además la herencia cultural, costumbres y tradiciones de las naciones hispanas en las Americas.  (Our primary purpose is to promote Puerto Rican culture and due to its involvement and manifestation, the promotion of our cultural heritage as well as, traditions and folklore of other Hispanic nations in the Americas).
El reconocimiento de la aportación Puertorriqueña e Hispana al mejoramiento de la comunidad en que residimos.  (The recognition of the Puerto Rican and Hispanic contributions to the improvement of our community).
Mantener viva la riqueza de nuestras costumbres y tradiciones para el disfruto de las generaciones futuras. (Keep alive the richness of our customs and traditions for the enjoyment of our future generations).
Auspiciar y desarrollar el talento cultural de los que residen en nuestra comunidad y facilitar su presentación.  (Sponsor and develop the cultural talent of residents of our community and facilitate their presentations).
Promover la integración de los hispanos en las actividades en las actividades de responsabilidad cívica o ciudadana de nuestra comunidad.  (Promote the integration of Hispanics into activities of civic or citizenship responsibilities of our community).  
Servir de centro de reunión, información y referido para la comunidad en general con énfasis en servicios a los Hispanos.  (Serve as a center for meetings, information and referral for the community as a whole with emphasis on Hispanic services).
Coordinar y promover actividades sociales, presentaciones artísticas, desfiles, festivales, y otros eventos que celebren el disfrute de nuestras costumbres.  (Coordinate and promote social activities, festivals, artistic presentations, parades and other events that celebrate the enjoyment of our customs).

Vision de nuestro future (visions of our future)

El Centro Cultural de Puerto Rico en Kissimmee va a convertirse en la sombrilla bajo la cual van a funcionar diversas entidades dedicadas al servicio de la comunidad Hispana, bien sea para su beneficio social, cívico o cultural.  (The cultural center of Puerto Rico in Kissimmee will transform into an umbrella under which several entities will serve the Hispanic community, be it for their social, civic or cultural benefit).
Nos proponemos celebrar un Desfile Puertorriqueño anual que celebre la diversidad de nuestra cultura, presente la hermandad con otras naciones Hispanas y demuestre nuestro envolvimiento en la comunidad en que residimos.  (It is our intention to celebrate an annual Puerto Rican Parade that will celebrate the diversity of our culture, show our ties with other Hispanic nations and display our involvement in the community of which we are part of).  

Expectativas (Expectations)

Desarrollar el comité de artes plásticas para coordinar y llevar a cabo exposiciones y exhibiciones, exhibiciones y muestras de la pintura, escultura, serigrafía, litografía y otros medios, para promover el talento local y estrechar los lazos entre estos y  otros artistas Hispanos y proveer clases y educación en materias relacionadas al ámbito artístico. (Develop the plastic arts committee to coordinate and present exhibits, expositions and shows of paintings, sculpture, serigraph, lithograph and other media, to promote the local talent and strengthen their ties with other Hispanic artists, and to provide classes and education in matters pertaining to artistic endeavors).   
Promover el desarrollo del comité de arte dramático para presentar eventos relacionados con el teatro, la actuación, la declamación y los medios de televisión, radio y cine, además de proveer educación en materias relacionadas con el baile, la poesía, locución y otros.  Promote the development of the dramatic arts committee to present events related to the theatre and acting, television, radio and cinematographic media as well as education in matters pertaining to dancing, declamation, locution and others).
Estimular el comité cívico social para agrupar hacia un fin común las entidades cívicas y sociales de la comunidad, promover el envolvimiento de los hispanos en actividades benéficas, caritativas, políticas, deportivas y ciudadanas de la comunidad.    (Stimulate the civic social committee to steer the social and civic organizations of the community towards a common goal, promote the involvement of the Hispanic community in charitable, political, athletic, social responsibility and citizenship awareness organizations of the community).  
A través del comité de publicaciones y el comité de historia recopilar ye mantener para la posteridad un registro de eventos relacionados con hechos cívicos, culturales, militares, populares, sociales y de otra índole en nuestro mundo hispano incluyendo materiales publicados sobre estas.   (Through the publication committee and the Historic Committee gather and maintain for the future, a record of events in our Hispanic world pertaining to civic, cultural, military, popular, social and other matters).
Mediante el comité de comercio y turismo, el comité de relaciones internacionales y el comité de comercio y pequeños negocios servir de enlace entre las empresas hispanas establecidas en nuestra comunidad, Puerto Rico y otras naciones y la promoción cultural hispana.  (Via the Tourism and Commerce committee, the International Relations Committee and the Small Business and Commerce Committee provide a liaison between the establishments in our community, Puerto Rico and other nations for the promotion of our cultural heritage).  
Contando con la colaboración del comité de jóvenes y el comité de niños y con la participación del comité de artesanas del hilo y aguja, el comité de música típica y el comité de artes populares, así como otros comités participantes presentar eventos que sirvan para educar a nuestra comunidad, particularmente a través de las escuelas y otras instituciones educativas de lo que constituye el acervo cultural hispano, costumbres y tradiciones.  (Counting with the participation of the Youth Committee; the Children’s Committee, the Artisans of Needle and Thread, the traditional music committee and the Popular Arts committee as well as other participating committees, present events that educate our community, particularly through schools and other institutions, of our vast Hispanic heritage, customs and traditions).
Mediante el comité de ayuda comunitaria, el comité de salud pública y otros proveer servicios de referido y asistencia a nuevos residentes y personas necesitadas de nuestra comunidad, así como coordinar eventos relacionados con la salud el bienestar personal y de toda la comunidad hispana.  (Through the community assistance committee and the Public Health Committee provide referral and assistance services to new residents and needy members of our community as well as to coordinate events related to the Hispanic personal and community wellbeing).  
A través del comité de El Desfile Puertorriqueño de Osceola y el comité de actividades especiales, con la ayuda de todos los otros comités de nuestra organización, presentar los eventos cumbres de cada ano, El Desfile Puertorriqueño, concursos de belleza y distinción artística cultural, bailes y cultura, bailes y otros eventos sociales.  (Via the Puerto Rican Parade Committee and the Special Activities Committee, with the assistance of all the committees of our organization, present the yearly main events, the Puerto Rican Parade, the beauty, cultural and artistic pageants, dances and other social events).   

Localización (location)

El Centro Cultural de Puerto Rico está localizado en el 821 N. Main Street, en la ciudad de Kissimmee del estado de Florida.  Estamos disponibles de lunes a viernes donde el personal voluntario recibe las visitas, las horas varean.  El teléfono del Centro es el (407) 201-6465.  (The Cultural Center of Puerto Rico is located at 821 N. Main Street in Downtown Kissimmee.  Volunteers are available from Monday through Friday to receive visitors, times vary.  The telephone number is (407) 201-6465). 

Membrecía y Patrocinio (membership and sponsorship)

Hay varias categorías de membrecía.  La cuota anual básica por persona es de $20.00 para la categoría de socio patrocinador.  La cuota anual por matrimonio es de $35.00 por pareja, la cuota anual por matrimonio es de $35.00 por pareja, la cuota anual por familia de cuatro personas es de $50.00.  Y la cuota anual para menores de 18 años de edad es sol $10.00.  (There are several categories of membership.  The basic annual fee is $20.00 per person, $35.00 for couples, $50.00 for families of four persons and $10.00 for youngsters 18 and under). 
La membrecía le otorga una tarjeta de identificación, y el boletín informativo mensual que detalla las actividades a celebrarse.  En el momento de inscribirse puede obtener las camisetas del Centro Cultural al precio reducido de $10.00 (precio regular son $15.00), la membrecía también le otorga descuentos en actividades futuras, mercancía y obras de arte.  (Membership entitles you to receive an identification card, discounts and the monthly newsletter published by the Center that details upcoming activities.  At registration you may purchase the official t-shirt with the Cultural Center’s logo for a reduced price of $10.00.  Membership also provides you with discounts in future activities, merchandise and purchase of art works). 
El patrocinio está disponible para entidades y establecimientos que deseen auspiciar el funcionamiento del centro cultural, siendo una entidad sin fines de lucro dependemos del auspicio y las donaciones para el éxito de nuestra organización.  Hay varias categorías de patrocinio las cuales podemos detallar en reunión citada al efecto.  (Sponsorships are available for entities and businesses that desire to assist the cultural center in its performance.  Being a non-profit organization we depend on donations and sponsorships to be successful in our endeavors.  Details on sponsorship may be obtained by private meetings towards that purpose).

The Cultural Center of Puerto Rico is a non for profit organization located at 821 North Main Street, Kissimmee, Florida.  Accredited by the Cultural Institute of Puerto Rico.
Our primary motivation is to promote the cultural values and traditions that we have learned to love while living on the Island of Puerto Rico.  Our concern is that our children and their children will not appreciate the richness of our heritage.  Since there is nothing established here that provides education about our culture and history, most of what we remember will be lost in two generations.
It is still our intention to promote and foster social, civic and patriotic participation organized by local, state and national institutions.  Not only did Puerto Ricans join the Cultural Center as members but so did many representatives of other Hispanic nations, as well as several non-Hispanics that love our culture. 
Due to the different needs in our community, the Cultural Center has become the information and reference center for those needing assistance or orientation, evolving into a community based organization referring individuals/families to agencies that can assist them. We have developed partnerships with agencies such as The Heart Gallery that pictures children in need of adoption and Kissimmee Family Mission helping to feed the homeless and providing a lending hand to the forgotten members of our Community. 
We have celebrated our first year of evolution and success, establishing classes in music, art, dance and theatre, as well as committees dedicated to the community.  Our committees are as follows:  the parade, business expo and festival committee, social services, businesses, international relations, tourism, civic, education, history and traditions, arts, music, sports, children, youth, senior citizens, health, publications, media and radio show.
This organization has given each and every one of our members the joy and opportunity to “pay it forward”.   We are extending an invitation to you to become a member of our Cultural Center so that together we can continue building a stronger community, your community, OUR community.
